Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Tech Stuffs (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit techstuffs.net (the “Site”). It also covers our use of cookies and how we handle copyright complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please stop using the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

We only collect personal information that you choose to send us, for example when you email us at derek@techstuffs.net. This may include your name, email address and anything you write in your message, such as details about your phone.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, some information is collected automatically by our own systems and by third-party services we use. This can include:

  • Your IP address (which may be shortened or anonymized by the service collecting it)
  • Browser type and version, operating system and device type
  • The pages you visit, how long you stay and the links you click
  • The website or search engine that brought you here
  • Your approximate location, such as country or city, based on your IP address
  • Date and time of your visit

This information doesn’t directly identify you by name. We use it to understand how the Site is used and to keep it running well.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Reply to your messages, questions and correction requests
  • Understand which guides are useful and which topics readers are looking for
  • Improve the Site’s content, design and performance
  • Display advertising that helps keep Tech Stuffs free to read
  • Detect and prevent spam, abuse, fraud and security problems
  • Meet our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, the time you spend on them, how you arrived and the type of device you use. This information is reported to us as statistics, which help us see what’s working and what needs improving.

Google processes this data according to its own privacy policy. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. Advertising

Tech Stuffs is free to read, and advertising helps us cover the cost of running it. We currently work with Adsterra to show display ads on the Site, and we may work with other advertising networks in the future.

Advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, pixels and similar technologies to:

  • Show ads on the Site
  • Limit how often you see the same ad
  • Measure how ads perform
  • In some cases, show ads based on your interests or your visits to this and other websites

These partners collect and process information under their own privacy policies, which we don’t control. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of each network. For our current partner, see Adsterra’s Privacy Policy.

If we add or change advertising partners, we’ll update this page to reflect that.

Opting out of personalized ads

You can limit personalized advertising through these industry tools:

Opting out doesn’t remove ads from the Site. It means the ads you see will be less tailored to your interests.

Managing cookies

Where the law requires it, we’ll ask for your consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies, and you can change your choice at any time.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the Site from working properly. For help, see your browser’s support pages:

Our guides often link to other websites, such as Google’s support pages, manufacturer websites or app stores. We aren’t responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. Please read their privacy policies before sharing any information with them.

7. How We Protect Your Information

The Site is served over a secure HTTPS connection, and we take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information we hold. Still, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep emails and the personal information in them only as long as needed to respond to you and for reasonable record-keeping, after which they’re deleted. Analytics and advertising data are kept according to the retention settings of Google and our advertising partners.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate
  • Delete your personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent
  • Data portability, meaning you can receive your data in a commonly used format

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We don’t sell personal information for money. Some advertising cookies may count as “sharing” under California law, and you can opt out using the tools in Section 4 or your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal.

To make a request, email derek@techstuffs.net. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it, and we’ll respond within the time required by applicable law.

  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf

Incomplete notices may not be processed. Please note that knowingly making a false claim of infringement may make you liable for damages.

Counter-notification

If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same email address. It must include your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, your contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court.

Repeat infringers

Where appropriate, we’ll remove content and take other reasonable steps against those who repeatedly infringe copyright.
